Women's Golf at UMSL

The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s golf team has been named as a recipient of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Sportsmanship Award for the spring season. It marks the fifth straight year the UMSL Tritons have won the honor.

A total of eight spring teams were honored by their peers for best displaying “Good Sportsmanship” during the 2014 season. Other recipients included Wisconsin-Parkside Men’s Golf, Missouri S&T Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field, William Jewell Men’s Tennis, Quincy Women’s Tennis, Southern Indiana Baseball and Missouri S&T Softball.

The women’s golf team, under the direction of 11th-year head coach James Earle, recently completed their fifth straight trip to the NCAA East Regional, while sophomore Tayler Hoag competed in the NCAA Championship in Conover, N.C., as an individual.

The SAAC Sportsmanship Award is determined by votes of the GLVC member institutions’ campus SAACs. The committees select their top three choices in each sport and base their decision on their view of sportsmanship. Each team that received a first-place vote received three points, second place received two points, and the third place received one point. The GLVC sponsors the award in each of the league’s eighteen championship sports.
