The No. 36 ranked men’s tennis Tritons ran their win streak to five matches this week with wins over Illinois Springfield, Grand Valley State and McPherson.

Baseball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play at McKendree on Sunday with a pair of victories, winning 6-3 and 5-2. Senior Daniel Seddon went a combined 6-for-9 in the two games, including 4-for-5 in the opener, while junior Austin Simokaitis recorded a save in each of the two victories. Senior Zach Sedlacek collected the game one victory, registering a career-high 10 strikeouts. The Tritons, at 6-0 and off to their best start since the 1998 team opened with eight straight wins, will close out the four-game series at McKendree today with a doubleheader starting at Noon. UMSL then hosts Illinois Springfield in a single game on Thursday before a four-game series with Southern Indiana, set to open on Friday.

Softball
No. 4 ranked UMSL won all four of its contests last week, including nonconference wins over Lake Superior State (8-0 and 10-2) before two GLVC wins over McKendree (1-0 and 7-3). Junior Hannah Perryman tossed back-to-back perfect games in each of her two appearances. She struck out all 15 batters faced against LSSU before striking out 13 in the win over McKendree. Offensively, sophomore Alex Stupek batted .700 at the plate with seven hits, including two homeruns and a double. She also tallied four RBIs and scored five runs. UMSL (17-1, 2-0 GLVC) will host Illinois Springfield at Noon today in a pair of league games before opening a 10-game roadswing this weekend with visits to Lewis on Saturday and to Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday.

Men’s Tennis
The No. 36 ranked Tritons ran their win streak to five matches this week with wins over Illinois Springfield (9-0), Grand Valley State (6-3) and McPherson (7-2). Senior Nils Mueggenburg went a combined 6-0 in singles and doubles, playing at the No. 1 position in both, while sophomores Dario Vidaurre and Irving Corrales and senior Tim McLarty were all 3-0 in singles. UMSL (5-3) travels to Harding on Friday in its lone contest of the week.

Women’s Tennis
UMSL went 2-1 last week, topping Illinois Springfield (9-0) and McPherson (8-1) with its lone loss coming to No. 39 Grand Valley State (8-1). Senior Leanne Cantalupo ran her singles win streak to nine with three wins and also picked up a pair of doubles victories. UMSL (3-4) will travel to Harding on Friday before hosting Maryville on Saturday in its GLVC opener.
