Despite a 4-2 record last week, the University of Missouri–St. Louis softball team moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Poll, marking the program’s highest-ever ranking.

The UMSL Tritons (21-3) split Great Lakes Valley Conference twin bills against Illinois Springfield (10-0, 0-1) and at Lewis (L, 3-5 in 8 inn., 5-3). They did close out their week sweeping league foe Wisconsin-Parkside (8-4, 8-0) on the road.

Valdosta State (29-2) moved into the No. 1 spot this week, ending West Texas A&M’s record 56-week hold on the top spot.

UMSL is one of three GLVC teams in the poll with Indianapolis checking in at No. 12 and Southern Indiana at No. 16.

The Tritons continue a 10-game road swing this weekend with contests at Rockhurst and William Jewell on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
