UMSL volleyball went 2-1 last weekend, playing three straight road games. The Tritons (14-15, 8-7 GLVC) return to action at Maryville for their final road game on Tuesday.

Women’s Soccer
The University of Missouri–St. Louis Tritons advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship after knocking off top-seeded and No. 13 ranked Bellarmine in Friday night’s semifinals. Senior Cassie McFadden scored the game-winner in the 71st minute after freshman McKayla Harder put the Tritons on the board in the fifth minute. UMSL’s tournament run came to an end on Sunday, however, with a 2-0 loss to No. 2 seed Truman State in the championship game. The Tritons (12-4-4) now await word from the NCAA on Monday evening if they earn a spot in the NCAA tournament, which would be their first since 1983.

Volleyball
UMSL went 2-1 last weekend, playing three straight road games. The Tritons used a balanced attack on Friday to sweep Bellarmine and was led by senior Hannah Miller’s 11 kills and junior Lexi Rogers’ 10 kills. UMSL hit .261 as a team with senior Lindsay Meyer dishing out 36 assists. On Saturday, UMSL gave Southern Indiana all it could handle, but came up short in the three-set loss with two sets going to extra points. The Tritons closed out the three-game stretch with a sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday. Rogers had nine kills and six blocks as UMSL racked up 41 kills as a team. The Tritons (14-15, 8-7 GLVC) return to action at Maryville for their final road game on Tuesday and wrap up the regular season at home on Friday and Saturday, hosting Missouri S&T and Drury, respectively.

Women’s Basketball
UMSL opened its season last Saturday with a 78-65 loss at Bradley in exhibition play. Despite the setback, the Tritons outscored the Braves, 42-35, in the second half. Senior Kelly Kunkel had 21 points and five rebounds, going 11-of-12 at the free throw line. As a team, UMSL was 24-of-27 at the charity stripe. The Tritons officially tip off the season on Saturday, hosting Georgetown College.

Men’s Swimming
Freshman Diogo Dias won two individual events, while UMSL also claimed three runner-up finishes at the Drury Invitational, held last Friday and Saturday. The Tritons finished fourth in the six-team field. UMSL also hosted a quad on Sunday with Dias earning another pair of victories. UMSL is back in action on Saturday at the Lindenwood Invitational.

Women’s Swimming
UMSL placed fourth in the five-team Drury Invitational on Friday and Saturday, allying 236 points. Fatima Benbatti, Marina Villoch, Tatiana Vanegas and Angie Quiroga teamed up in a pair of relays to break school records in the 400 freestyle and 200 freestyle. The Tritons also hosted a quad on Sunday with sophomore Angie Quiroga and freshman Amber Visser earning runner-up finishes to highlight action. UMSL is back in action on Saturday at the Lindenwood Invitational.
