University of Missouri–St. Louis students enjoy the best educational value in the state according to a Business Insider ranking released on July 30.

The growing business site noted UMSL as the most affordable, highly ranked university in Missouri.

The list compiles data from The Chronicle of Higher Education and only includes the colleges and universities rated in the top 220 by U.S. News and World Report. Schools were evaluated based on expenses from the 2016-17 academic year, including tuition, required fees and room and board.

“This ranking is striking to me because it’s not solely focused on numbers, but also on the quality of education our diverse student body receives at UMSL,” said Chancellor Tom George. “Our status in Missouri, in the Midwest and nationally is reflective of the success of our alumni, world-class faculty and excellent students who directly contribute to the advancement of the St. Louis region and beyond.”

UMSL joins the company of schools such as the University of Arkansas, Iowa State University and Kansas State University.

The Business Insider ranking continues UMSL’s trend of national recognition. In 2017, the university has received a top-five ranking on Great Value Colleges’ 2017-18 list of the “50 Best Colleges for Adult Education” and was noted by SmartAsset as one of the best value colleges.
