Undergraduate transfer students will once again have the opportunity to gain admission to the University of Missouri–St. Louis, meet with an advisor and register for classes for the fall semester, all in a matter of hours.

UMSL is set to host its third annual Quick Admit Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 17 in the Millennium Student Center.

“For transfer students, we understand that there’s kind of a lot that goes into choosing what school you’re going to attend next,” said Christy Hummel, assistant director of transfer services. “We created this event to help students finalize their choice and make that transition happen as quickly and easily as possible and also make sure that they are getting registered for classes in order to be ready to attend school in the fall.”

Nearly 100 students have taken advantage of Quick Admit Day to begin charting their degree paths in each of the past two years.

Prospective transfer students are encouraged to fill out an online application ahead of the July 17 event. UMSL will waive the application fee for participating students.

They then need to bring copies of unofficial transcripts from any and all institutions where they’ve earned college credit. Transfer specialists will review those materials, and as long as the students meet the admissions requirements and sign an affidavit promising to have their official transcripts sent to UMSL within 30 days, they’ll gain admission the same day. Students then have the chance to meet with an academic advisor and enroll in classes for the upcoming semester – thereby streamlining a process that typically takes a few weeks.

“We’ve had great success with it the first two years,” Hummel said. “What we’ve tried to do in the past – and we’ll do it again this year – is create a one-stop shop for students so they can get everything done as efficiently as possible.”

That includes meeting with orientation staff and getting registered for an upcoming transfer student orientation session.
