The men's basketball team finished its nonconference schedule with a 9-1 record and heads back into conference play by hosting top-ranked Bellarmine.

Junior Josh Carter scored 20 points in UMSL’s 94-56 win over Principia College on Saturday. Carter hit 9 of 10 shots from the field, a 90 percent shooting mark that ranks second in the Tritons’ all-time, single-game chart.

Men’s Basketball
UMSL closed out its nonconference schedule Saturday with a a 93-56 victory over Principia College. The Tritons finished with a 9-1 record in nonconference games, marking the program’s most nonleague wins since joining a conference: the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in 1981-82. The last time UMSL had just one nonconference loss was 2005-06 when it went 7-1 outside of league games. Junior Josh Carter scored a career-high 20 points in the win over Principia, knocking down 9 of 10 field goals. His 90 percent mark from the field ranks second on the Tritons’ all-time, single-game chart (minimum of 10 attempts). Carter also added three assists and three steals. UMSL (10-2, 1-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) resumes GLVC play Thursday, hosting No. 1 Bellarmine at 7:30 p.m. before closing out a 12-game homestand on Saturday against Southern Indiana.

Women’s Basketball
The Tritons rallied from an eight-point third quarter deficit en route to grabbing a 64-55 win at Arkansas Tech on Sunday afternoon in their final nonconference game. Senior Arielle Jackson finished with 23 points, her fourth 20-point outing this season, while sophomore Alex LaPorta added nine points and snagged 11 rebounds. UMSL (7-4, 1-1 GLVC) now turns its attention to the remainder of the GLVC schedule, resuming league play on Thursday at home against Bellarmine before playing host to Southern Indiana on Saturday.
