Women’s golfer Emma Thorngren won GLVC Player of the Week honors after picking up her second individual title of the season at last week’s Flagler Fall Slam.

Women’s Golf
Senior Emma Thorngren captured her second individual title of the season last Monday and Tuesday, earning medalist honors at the Flagler Fall Slam in the Tritons’ fall finale. Her victory brought her nod as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. She turned in a 4-under par 140 (72-68) to edge Barry’s Noemie Pare by one stroke. As a team, the Tritons recorded a fifth-place showing in the 17-team field, shooting a combined score of 613 (309-304). UMSL will open the spring portion of its schedule Feb. 24-25 at the Battle at Hilton Head.

Volleyball
The 25th-ranked Tritons lost a 3-1 match at No. 9 Lewis on Friday night but bounced back to secure a 3-2 win at Illinois Springfield on Saturday. Sophomore Charlotte Richards averaged 3.2 kills and 1.8 digs per set while senior Kylie Rudsinski added 3.1 kills per set and also had six blocks. UMSL (21-3, 6-3 GLVC) opens a four-match homestand on Friday, welcoming Indianapolis. The Tritons then play host to Bellarmine on Saturday.

Men’s Soccer
UMSL extended its win streak to three games on Friday night with a 3-1 win over Southwest Baptist with senior Magnus Andersen scoring two of those goals, bringing his season total to 11. The Tritons then closed the weekend with a 2-1 double overtime loss to Drury on Sunday. Freshman Tommy Naumann recorded his first collegiate goal in that contest, while Andersen had the assist. UMSL (6-10, 4-9 GLVC) wraps up the regular season this weekend with games at Truman State and Quincy on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Women’s Soccer
The Tritons extended their unbeaten streak to four games, earning a 1-0 win over Southwest Baptist on Friday night before playing to a scoreless draw against Drury on Sunday. Junior Sarah Lyon scored the game-winner with six minutes to play against Southwest Baptist, while junior Amber Hayes picked up her fourth straight shutout in goal. UMSL (4-10-1, 4-8-1 GLVC) travels to Truman State on Friday and to Quincy on Sunday to close out the regular season.

Men’s Swimming
No. 23 UMSL won 10 events en route to team victories over William Jewell and Maryville on Friday evening in the team’s home opener. The Tritons defeated William Jewell 148-62 and Maryville 156-41. Junior Keven Stahl won both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle races to highlight action. UMSL returns to the pool Nov. 8-9, playing host to Maryville and Truman State.

Women’s Swimming
The Tritons won four events as they defeated William Jewell and Maryville in their home opener on Friday evening. They edged William Jewell 105-102 and swam past Maryville 151-43. Freshman Franziska Hauptmann won the 200-yard backstroke and swam the opening leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay, while other first-place finishes included freshman Zara Konstapel in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle relay. UMSL returns to the pool Nov. 8-9 against visiting Maryville and Truman State.
