UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

Yaakema Rose Jr. and the men's basketball team won their 11th straight game with a strong defensive effort against Missouri S&T.

Junior Yaakema Rose Jr. scored 21 points Saturday in a 76-57 win against Missouri S&T. It marked the Tritons’ 11th straight win, the third-best active streak in NCAA Division II.

Men’s Basketball
UMSL ran its win streak to 11 games with wins over Maryville (83-58) and Missouri S&T (76-57) last week. Junior Yaakema Rose Jr. filled the stat sheet by averaging 17 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals in the two victories. UMSL (12-1, 3-0) travels to Drury on Thursday before visiting new league member Southwest Baptist on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball
UMSL bounced back from a 62-53 loss to Maryville last Thursday night by securing a 67-56 win over Missouri S&T on Saturday. Junior Danielle Berry averaged 15 points, 5.5 rebounds and two steals while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. She was 4 for 7 from 3-point range. UMSL (6-6, 1-2 GLVC) is at top-ranked Drury on Thursday and at Southwest Baptist on Saturday.
