New international students have been getting acclimated to the University of Missouri–St. Louis campus over the past three days as they take part in Global Triton Welcome, a week-long orientation designed to help get ready for the start of the spring semester.

The students receive campus tours and take part in information sessions led by members of the UMSL Global staff on university and American life with a focus on topics such as visas, finances, ways to get involved on campus and academic programming. But some of the most valuable information they receive comes from fellow students, who were once in their shoes and are now serving as UMSL Global orientation leaders.

UMSL social media manager Valerie Furlong caught up with Viktoria Dimitrova, Swati Sah, Kendal Brown, Kiran Hamal and Williesha Moore and asked them to share some advice for the newest Tritons.
