The University of Missouri–St. Louis community gathered on campus last week to take part in one of the university’s most storied traditions – Mirthweek.
The weeklong celebration was initially established in 1986 to foster campus cheer and provide students with a reward for all their hard work during the fall and spring semesters. This year’s festivities ran from April 21 through 25 and featured the signature Mirthweek Carnival. UMSL alumni, faculty, students and staff flocked to the East Lawn outside of the Recreation and Wellness Center on Wednesday for an afternoon of fun and friendship. Attendees could try their hand at classic carnival games, commission a portrait from a caricature artist or get their faces painted. Those seeking something a bit more thrilling than ring toss lined up for a spin on the Scrambler and G-Force rides.
In addition to the carnival, the Office of Student Involvement and University Program Board organized a slate of events including the Student Leadership Awards Banquet, a Jeopardy-inspired trivia game, the Mirthweek Afterparty and a bonfire to close out the week.

Members of the UMSL community gathered for the UPB Ignite the Night bonfire on the East Lawn. The event wrapped up a week of fun and festivities.
