The No. 26 University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s golf team finished 17th at last week’s NCAA Division II Championship played at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Tritons struggled in last Monday’s opening round with a combined score of 307 that left them in last place in the 20-team field. They turned things around the following two days with scores of 295 and 299 to finish with a combined score of 901, passing Charleston, Central Missouri and Davis & Elkins and finishing one shot behind Gannon. Colorado Christian won the stroke-play portion of the tournament with a team score of 856, two shots better than second-place West Florida. Those two teams also advanced through match play to the final, where West Florida edged Colorado Christian in a playoff. Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year Logan Mayo led the underclassmen-laden Tritons individually with a total score of 218, including a final-round 71, to finish in a tie for 26th.
