Men’s Basketball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s basketball team went 2-0 last week, beating crosstown rival Maryville 69-52 on the road on Tuesday and topping Wisconsin–Parkside 61-56 in a nonconference game on Saturday at the Mark Twain Athletic Center. Vincent Davis III led the Tritons to Tuesday’s win, going 5 for 5 from the field and scoring a game-high 18 points. Jake Hamilton added 13 points, and Blessed Barhayiga chipped in a season-high 10 points off the bench. UMSL’s defense held Maryville to 37.7% shooting, forced 18 turnovers and came up with 12 steals, including four by Miles Boland. The Tritons had another strong defensive effort in Saturday’s win against the Rangers. They held Parkside to 35.8% shooting and forced 14 turnovers. UMSL led 28-21 at intermission and never relinquished the advantage in the second half despite the Rangers cutting it to 1 on four occasions. Hamilton led three Tritons in double figures with 14 points and added 11 rebounds. Boland scored 12 points and had five assists, and Makeer Makeer added 12 points off the bench. UMSL (7-4, 2-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will travel to San Antonio, Texas, for the River City Holiday Classic. Coach Bob Sundvold’s team will face Texas A&M–Kingsville on Tuesday and Dallas Baptist on Wednesday at the Northside ISD Sports Gym.

Women’s Basketball
The Tritons extended their winning streak to six games with a 61-53 victory at Maryville on Tuesday, but they came up short in their quest for seven in a row, falling to Michigan Tech 68-62 on Saturday at the Mark Twain Athletic Center. The fourth quarter proved decisive in Tuesday’s win over Maryville as UMSL outscored the home team 14-7 in the last 10 minutes. Jayden Kuper scored a game-high 15 points in the win, and Morgan Ramthun and Mara Rieder added 14 points each. Rieder also had 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. UMSL held the Saints to 38% shooting. The Tritons played a back-and-f0rth game against Michigan Tech, including six ties and 13 lead changes, but the Huskies never trailed in the final period and went on a 14-4 run after Rieder’s jumper tied it at 53 with 5:50 remaining. UMSL never got closer than six the rest of the way. Rieder finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Lexi Hanna scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers. But no other Tritons player scored more than nine points. UMSL shot 41.2% from the field and 29.4% from 3-point range. The Tritons ( GLVC) will play host to Central Missouri at 5 p.m. today in their final game of the 2025 calendar year.
