MEN’S BASKETBALL
UMSL maintained sole possession of the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division with a 76-65 win over the University of Illinois Springfield last Saturday. With the win, the Tritons improve to 14-5 overall, including 9-2 in the GLVC and own a two-game lead over the UIS Prairie Stars and Quincy (Ill.) University. The Tritons suffered a 77-64 loss at Quincy last Thursday in their other game of the week.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The UMSL women’s basketball team split its contests last week. After dropping a 75-57 verdict at Quincy University on Thursday, the Tritons bounced back to register an 80-65 victory over the University of Illinois Springfield. The Tritons shot 68.2 percent in the second half to break free from a 33-33 halftime tie en route to the win, while senior Caitlyn Moody poured in a game-high 26 points, while also pulling down eight rebounds and snagging a career-best five steals. Fellow senior Shayelle Dominguez finished with a career-high 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. UMSL is 8-11 overall, including 3-8 in the GLVC.
