With Missouri legislature reconvening this week, St. Louis Public Radio | 90.7 KWMU assembled its political roundtable to discuss the issues that will likely be at the forefront of the first 2013 session.

Terry Jones, chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, joined St. Louis Public Radio statehouse reporter Marshall Griffin and St. Louis Beacon political reporter Jo Mannies to talk with “St. Louis Public Radio” host Don Marsh about how state lawmakers might handle topics like Medicaid expansion, arming classroom teachers and tax credits. Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, will also be faced for the first time with a veto-proof GOP majority in the statehouse.

“Yes, it’s veto-proof, but both the Senate and the House are just one or two votes above that,” Jones said on St. Louis Public Radio. “The larger the majority, the more difficult it is to keep the majority together.”
