Freshman Hannah Perryman of the University of Missouri–St. Louis softball team has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, as announced Thursday night by the league office at the GLVC Tournament banquet.

Perryman was also one of eight UMSL Tritons players to earn All-GLVC West Division playing honors. Joining Perryman on the first team were sophomore first baseman Brianna Butler, sophomore second baseman Katie Wood, senior shortstop Haleigh Jenkins and sophomore pitcher Brittni Chapman.

Second Team selections included sophomore catcher Madison Zbaraschuk, sophomore outfielder Jena Boudreau and junior outfielder Ashleigh King.

UMSL is 35-11 and won the GLVC West Division title with a league record of 26-4. The 35 wins are the third most in program history, while the 26 GLVC wins are a program best.

HANNAH PERRYMAN (unanimous selection)

In her first collegiate season, Perryman captured five of the 11 GLVC Pitcher of the Week accolades awarded this year and finished the regular season by breaking DeFosset’s 2009 school record with 299 strikeouts. That total currently ranks second nationally, while her average of 12.5 strikeouts per seven innings is tops among all NCAA Division II pitchers. In addition, the 21-5 hurler ranks fifth in the country with 3.75 hits allowed per seven innings, 11th with nine shutouts, 22nd with 21 victories, and 24th with a 1.46 ERA.

The GLVC Player of the Week on April 15, Jenkins will graduate with her name in six different career categories. She currently ranks fourth in home runs (18), fourth in hits (176), fifth in total bases (261), sixth in RBIs (92), 10th in doubles (31) and 10th in runs scored (90).

BRITTNI CHAPMAN

Chapman also boast six shutouts and 15 complete games and is ranked 26th nationally in walks allowed per seven innings (1.17).
