Jon Huelsman is a sophomore nursing major and a midfielder on the UMSL soccer team.

Sophomore midfielder Jon Huelsman of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team has been selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Second Team.

Huelsman led the UMSL Tritons with 13 points, scoring a team-best six goals to go with one assist. Three of those goals came in a two-game span that helped him garner GLVC Offensive Player and Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division II Player of the Week honors in mid-October. Huelsman netted a goal at William Jewell on Oct. 11 and then scored both goals in a 2-1 victory at then No. 8 ranked Rockhurst on Oct. 13.

Huelsman, a nursing major who started all 18 games for UMSL, also led the team with 46 shots, including 14 shots on goal, and recorded two game-winners.

UMSL posted a 9-7-2 record and ended the regular season on a seven-game unbeaten streak. The Tritons were 8-5-2 in the GLVC and garnered the No. 5 seed in the league tournament. UMSL saw its season end in the GLVC Tournament quarterfinals with a 3-0 loss at No. 4 seed Rockhurst.
