Sophomore midfielder Jon Huelsman of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team has been named the Disney Soccer/National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II Player of the Week.

Huelsman, a nursing major who was also named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scored three of the four UMSL goals this past weekend as the UMSL Tritons recorded 2-1 wins at William Jewell on Friday and No. 8 Rockhurst on Sunday. He tallied both first-half goals in the upset win at Rockhurst. UMSL was held to four shots in the game, all of which were taken by Huelsman. The victory in Kansas City, Mo., marked the Tritons’ second win over a top-10 team in the last 10 days, as they also defeated then No. 4 ranked Drury at home on Oct. 4.

The Disney Soccer/NSCAA Players of the Week are announced every Tuesday throughout the fall college season during the College Highlights and Rankings Show on NSCAATV.com. The program was expanded to include a men’s and women’s winner from all three NCAA divisions in 2013.

The NSCAA is the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization with members at every level of the game. The membership is primarily made up of coaches, but also includes administrators, referees and others in the soccer industry. The NSCAA provides its members ways to enhance the game of soccer by providing a national education program, interaction and networking opportunities, and membership benefits.
