Since arriving at the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 2003, Chancellor Tom George has led UMSL through more than a decade of outstanding growth and success.
“To say that this chancellor wears many hats is an understatement,”said HEC-TV host Dennis Riggs during the recently aired “A Conversation with Tom George” profile. “He’s a professor of chemistry and physics, a respected scientist and researcher, a jazz pianist, and he serves on the boards of many St. Louis-area charities and organizations. Under Tom’s leadership the university has grown in population of students, faculty and staff, added additional degrees, undergone major capital improvement and construction projects and forged outstanding partnerships with the business community.”
Chancellor George discusses everything from his first impression of UMSL and the outstanding faculty to the growing infrastructure and outstanding community partnerships.
“We have a four-legged stool for the university – teaching, community service, economic development and research … often they all intertwine,” George said during his interview.
He went on to highlight UMSL’s nationally ranked programs, excellent faculty, active students, engaged alumni and donors, and business connections.
