Men’s Soccer
UMSL extended its winning streak to four matches and moved into second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings last weekend with road victories at Indianapolis (2-1) and Saint Joseph’s (2-1 in two overtimes). Junior Pat Ries had a goal in each match, including the double overtime game-winner at Saint Joseph’s. UMSL (10-3-1, 9-2-1 GLVC) travels to Truman State Friday afternoon before hosting Quincy on Sunday.
Women’s Soccer
UMSL bounced back from a 1-0 loss at Indianapolis on Friday with a 3-1 victory at Saint Joseph’s on Sunday. It gave the Tritons a school-record ninth GLVC victory. Senior Taylor Tosovsky played a part in all three goals, assisting on the first two before scoring the insurance goal. UMSL (9-3, 9-3 GLVC) wraps up a three-game road swing at Truman State on Friday before hosting Quincy on Sunday.
Volleyball
The Tritons went 1-2 at the Midwest Regional Crossover Tournament last weekend, rallying for a five-set victory over Lake Erie. Freshman Selena Nolte averaged 2.92 kills per set, while senior Gaylynn Jones added 2.5 kills and 3.36 digs per set, which included season highs of 21 kills and 24 digs in the victory. UMSL (12-7, 6-3 GLVC) is at Rockhurst and William Jewell on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Women’s Golf
UMSL won the 15-team Findlay-Beall Fall Classic last Monday and Tuesday, shooting a 616 (309-307), while freshman Emma Thorngren won her second straight individual title with a 147 (74-73). The Tritons are at the NYC Big Apple Invitational today and tomorrow.
Men’s Golf
Junior Markus Lindberg claimed medalist honors at the 25-team Midwest Regional at Fox Run, hosted by the Tritons last Monday and Tuesday. Lindberg turned in a 4-under par 141 (69-71) to help UMSL to a runner-up finish with a team score of 580 (285-295). UMSL is at the Lindenwood Invitational today and tomorrow in St. Charles, Missouri.
Men’s and Women’s Swimming
The Triton swimming teams each defeated Lindenwood-Belleville in their home opener on Saturday. The women won 121-81, capturing titles in eight of the 11 events, including the 200-yard freestyle relay where they set a school record. Freshman Merel Visser won three events. The men defeated the Lynx 140-82, winning 10 of 12 events with freshman Gabriel Jimenez winning three individual events and sophomore Radoslaw Chupka earning two individual titles and swimming the opening leg on two winning relays. The Tritons return to the pool on Saturday at William Jewell.
