Men’s and Women’s Cross Country
Sophomore Jacob Warner, a Mississippi State transfer, raced to a first-place individual finish in the H.W. Wright Classic, hosted by NCAA Division III Millikin University on Friday in Decatur, Illinois. Warner finished the 8-kilometer race in a time of 26 minutes, 24.7 seconds and led the Tritons men’s cross country team to a runner-up finish in a seven-team field that included Great Lakes Valley Conference foes Quincy and McKendree. Freshman Sam Savastino joined Warner in the top 10 with a seventh-place finish. The women’s team took fourth in the seven-team meet, averaging 27:35 in the 6-kilometer race. Freshman Lily Wagemann paced the Tritons with a 16th-place finish in 25:09.5. Both teams will next compete in the Border War Championships hosted by Principia College on Oct. 8 in Elsah, Illinois.

Volleyball
The Tritons’ kicked off their home schedule with a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Rockhurst and William Jewell on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The victories pushed UMSL’s winning streak to six matches, and it is 4-0 in GLVC play. Senior Charlotte Richards combined for 33 kills to pace the Tritons in the two victories. Megan Woll added 32 digs. UMSL will head back on the road this week, facing McKendree on Friday and Southern Indiana on Saturday.

Men’s Soccer
UMSL split a pair of home matches, shutting out Truman State 1-0 on Friday night before losing 3-2 in overtime against Quincy on Sunday afternoon. Midfielder Bradley Fritsche scored the lone goal in Friday’s tightly played victory. The Tritons (3-4, 2-3 GLVC) led 2-1 Sunday afternoon, courtesy of goals by Arman Kovac and Garrett Bass, but Quincy evened the match in the 80th minute and added the game-winner about 8 1/2 minutes into overtime. UMSL visits Rockhurst on Friday and William Jewell on Sunday.

Women’s Soccer
Senior Mia Milazzo‘s first goal of the season helped the Tritons knock off Quincy 1-0 on Sunday, snapping a three-match losing skid. The goal came in the 22nd minute, and goalkeeper Paige Schwartz made it stand up with five saves in UMSL’s second shutout of the season. It came two days after the Tritons were blanked 1-0 Friday night against Truman State. UMSL will take on Rockhurst on Friday in Kansas City and William Jewell on Sunday in Liberty, Missouri.

Men’s Golf
UMSL finished second, 17 shots behind winner Indianapolis, in the Doc Spragg Invitational held Sept. 20-21 in Findlay, Ohio. The Tritons finished with a combined score of 4-over-par 868 in the 54-hole event. Juan Antonio Padilla led the team with a 12th-place individual finish with a combined scored of even-par 216. UMSL is competing in the Missouri Southern State University Fall Invitational today and Tuesday in at Shangri-La Country Club in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.

Women’s Golf
The Tritons finished in 13th place in the DBU Classic held Sept. 20-21 in Denton, Texas. The team finished with a combined score of 914. Senior Manon Labeur was UMSL’s top individual finisher with a total of 225, good for 28th place. The women’s team will next compete in the William Beal Fall Classic Oct. 4-5 in Findlay, Ohio.
