The Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program at the University of Missouri–St. Louis will present the Internal Revenue Service Workshop for 501(c)(3) Small- & Medium-Sized Organizations on April 30 at the J.C. Penney Building/Conference Center on UMSL’s North Campus. For one day only, tax-exempt organizations, tax and legal professionals, and those who work and volunteer at 501(c)(3) organizations can learn about important IRS regulations straight from IRS tax representatives.
The College of Fine Arts & Communication at the University of Missouri–St. Louis announced their new program for students to earn a Certificate in Audio Recording. The college is collaborating with Ira DeWitt, president and founder of Notifi Records; the UMSL Department of Music; and the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center, to offer this certificate program that provides participants with the necessary technical skills needed for the production of high-quality sound recordings.
The University of Missouri–St. Louis Executive Leadership Consortium will celebrate the launch of its new program, Lifelong Learning @ UMSL. The launch event takes place at 2-4:30 p.m. April 5 at the J.C. Penney Building/Conference Center at UMSL. Lifelong Learning seeks to serve members ages 50 and older, a rapidly growing demographic with changing needs and demands.
The Center for the Humanities at the University of Missouri–St. Louis will host a literary reading and discussion by novelist Martha McPhee and book critic Heller McAlpin at 10 a.m. on April 5 at UMSL’s J.C. Penney Building/Conference Center. The event is part of the 2013 Greater St. Louis Humanities Festival that will take place at venues throughout the St. Louis area. The sixth annual African American Nursing History Conference, sponsored by the College of Nursing at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, will explore health care disparities, health care equity and health care promotion through awareness and action by providing free health care screenings to the community.
University of Missouri–St. Louis Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program, in partnership with Metropolitan Volunteer Management Association, introduces the St. Louis area’s first Chancellor’s Certificate in Volunteer Management. The first workshop within the program is on March 22, 2013, and additional courses are in June and September of this year.

The Division of Continuing Education at the University of Missouri–St. Louis has a new name: School of Professional & Continuing Studies. “It was determined that the ‘School of Professional & Continuing Studies’ would more accurately reflect the nature of our work, the constituents with whom we work, and better align us with our peers and our related professional organizations,” said Wm. Thomas Walker, dean of PCS.
