When the buses arrived Saturday with nearly 100 high school students in them, Alan Byrd broke out in a smile. Byrd, dean of enrollment management at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, had been working with the group’s organizers to attend UMSL Day, the university’s information session for prospective students and their parents.

“These students represented several high schools from the TRIO program at Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville,” Byrd said. “They were so impressed with our campus that they scheduled another tour in July to bring 60 seniors to campus.”

UMSL Day, held each fall and spring, has attracted record numbers of potential students in recent years. Saturday’s attendance (831 people) was the highest ever recorded for the spring event.

Because of the overwhelming numbers of registrants, a third UMSL Day has been added for May 5 to accommodate students and their parents. The event gives them the opportunity to learn more about UMSL’s award-winning programs, load up on financial aid information, talk to professors, tour the campus and fit as much as they can into four hours. Visit UMSL Day for more information and to register for May 5.
