Each week, the Department of Athletics at the University of Missouri–St. Louis compiles a roundup of how the various UMSL Tritons teams have fared. Click on the headings below for an up-to-date look at each Tritons team.

MEN’S SOCCER
The UMSL men’s soccer team was edged by McKendree University (Lebanon, Ill.), 2-1 in double overtime, in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener on Sunday. Senior Dan Olwig scored on a 20-yard shot off a pass from sophomore Billy Lacy that tied the game at 1-1 before the Bearcats scored the game winner two and a half minutes into the final overtime period. The Tritons were scheduled to host Bellarmine University (Louisville, Ky.) on Friday, but inclement weather forced that cancellation. UMSL is now 1-2 on the season, including 0-1 in the GLVC and travels to the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville) and Kentucky Wesleyan (Owensboro) this weekend.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Visiting McKendree University scored four times, handing the UMSL women’s soccer team a 4-1 defeat on Sunday. Sophomore Kayla Thorpe scored the lone Tritons goal. UMSL was slated to open the GLVC schedule on Friday against Bellarmine University and got 15 minutes of play in before storms began rolling through the St. Louis area, forcing the game to be called. The Tritons are 0-2-1 overall, and 0-1 in the GLVC and travel to the University of Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan (Owensboro) this weekend.

VOLLEYBALL
The UMSL volleyball team picked up its first win of the season last Friday, sweeping Southwestern Oklahoma State University (Sayre) to open the Middle of Everywhere Tournament, hosted by Missouri University of Science and Technology (Rolla). The Tritons finished the weekend 1-3 with losses to Northern Michigan University (Marquette) (3-2), Emporia (Kan.) State University (3-0) and Missouri Western State University (Joplin) (3-1). Senior Liz Jaeger averaged 2.67 kills and 2.67 digs to lead UMSL, while senior Haley Woods averaged 2.85 kills and recorded 11 blocks. UMSL is 1-7 overall and begins GLVC play at home this weekend, hosting the University of Illinois at Springfield and Quincy (Ill.) University.

MEN’S GOLF
UMSL retained possession of the Arch Cup on Sunday by defeating Maryville University (Town and Country, Mo.) in match play. The Tritons carded rounds of 297 and 294 to finish with a team score of 591 in the first outing of the year. Freshmen David Abolt and Colby Yates shared medalist honors, eaching shooting a 147 in their collegiate debuts.

MEN’S TENNIS
Sophomore Tim McLarty placed second at No. 2 singles and teamed with sophomore Nils Muggenburg for a second place finish at No. 1 doubles last weekend at the Art Peterson Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois University (Macomb). The Tritons also earned a pair of consolation final champions in sophomore Harry Heyburn at No. 3 singles and Heyburn and junior Tim Gorter at No. 3 doubles.

WOMEN’S GOLF
The UMSL women’s golf team carded a 322 on Monday in the opening round of the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate as it teed off its season. The Tritons were led by senior Shweta Galande, who shot a 73 and sits in a tie for third place. The final 18 holes are being played today.
