The Arianna String Quartet will present a special Good Friday performance of Joseph Haydn’s musical masterpiece “The Seven Last Words of Christ.”
The group, artists-in-residence at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 29 at Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 8454 Glen Echo Drive in Bel-Nor, Mo. The concert is free and open to the public.
Sacred readings will be interspersed among the musical movements.
The performance is a thank you from the Arianna String Quartet to the congregation and staff for providing performance and class space to UMSL’s music department.
“Unity Lutheran’s partnership with the music department is a wonderful demonstration of the university and surrounding community working to create educational and cultural opportunities for our university students, staff and faculty, as well as the folks in the neighborhoods that encircle the university,” said Kurt Baldwin, cellist for the Arianna String Quartet and an associate professor of music at UMSL.
