Free Wellness Classes This Week

German Culture Center Reopens in New Location

Description: The German Culture Center will reopen with special ceremonies and reception in its new quarters in SSB. RSVP to gcc@umsl.edu. The GCC was formerly located the Campus Police Building. Center coordinator Larry Marsh feels that the new location, closer to the heart of the campus, will encourage more UMSL students to take advantage of the center’s programs and resources, which include a large number of German books, films and other videos. Plans are underway for weekly “Kaffeestunden,” coffee hours, during which students and others can practice their German or explore aspects of the cultures of German-speaking countries.

Intro to Music Business

Description: In collaboration with Ira DeWitt, president and founder of Notifi Records, and Ronnie Notch, the Department of Music and the Touhill Performing Arts Center, PCS/COFAC is proposing a non-credit Chancellor’s Certificate in Audio Recording, to be offered on the campus of the University of Missouri St. Louis and at the studios of Notifi Records. The certificate program is designed to prepare participants to develop technical skills related to the production of high quality sound recordings. Through a mix of lecture-based courses and hands-on studio training, participants will learn to use audio technology, including recording consoles, microphones, and the widely used audio software program Pro Tools. Fee: $375.
