Men’s Soccer
The University of Missouri–St. Louis completed the weekend 2-0 after defeating Bellarmine Friday night, 2-1, and McKendree, 1-0, on Sunday to open the Great Lakes Valley Conference slate. Sophomore Leo Sanchez scored a goal in both games, while sophomore DJ Bednar also scored against Bellarmine. The Tritons (3-0-1, 2-0 GLVC) are on the road for GLVC matchups Friday against Southern Indiana and Sunday against Illinois Springfield.
Women’s Soccer
UMSL bounced back from a 1-0 GLVC-opening loss to Bellarmine on Friday to defeat McKendree, 1-0, on Sunday behind junior Hunter Wagoner’s goal. The Tritons (3-1, 1-1 GLVC) will hit the road this weekend for the first time this season, traveling to Southern Indiana on Friday and Illinois Springfield on Sunday in GLVC play.
Volleyball
UMSL jumped out to a 2-0 start in GLVC play this weekend after sweeping both Illinois Springfield (25-20, 25-19, 25-14) on Saturday and McKendree (29-27, 25-21, 25-20) on Sunday. Sophomore Jory Sidebenmorgen recorded 15 kills and 11 digs in the win over UIS, while junior Jessica Ploss led the Tritons with eight kills and four blocks against McKendree on Sunday. UMSL (5-1, 2-0 GLVC) will travel to Missouri S&T on Wednesday for a nonconference match before resuming league play at Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Men’s Tennis
UMSL competed in the Eastern Illinois Invitational Friday and Saturday in Charleston, Ill. Sophomore Dario Vidaurre posted a 3-1 singles record in his flight, while senior Nils Mueggenburg and freshman Alberto Maza Martin posted a 2-2 doubles record in their flight. The Tritons will be back on the court Friday and Saturday in the ITA Regional Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind.
Women’s Golf
Heading into today’s final round, UMSL owns a 14-stroke lead over second place Ohio Dominican. The Tritons shot 302 on day one. Junior Joana Yanez (75) is in third place individually, while senior Bailey Hopper (76) is in fourth. UMSL will be back on the course September 27-28 at the Glida’s Club Laker Fall Invite in Allendale, Mich.
Men’s Golf
The Tritons are competing in the Brickyard Invitational today and tomorrow, hosted by Indianapolis. Seven of the top 25-teams in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division II poll, including the Tritons, are participating, including four of the top 10. Top ranked and two-time defending NCAA Division II national champion Barry University highlights the field.
