For those searching for an online bachelor’s program in Missouri, there’s no institution better than the University of Missouri–St. Louis. That’s according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 list of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs published Tuesday.

UMSL ranks No. 23 nationally and No. 1 in Missouri among the list of 346 institutions.

“This impressive ranking confirms what we already know about UMSL: Our programs are among the best in the country in terms of affordability, flexibility and engagement,” Chancellor Tom George said. “Whether students take classes online or in a traditional classroom setting, they can expect the same academic rigor and commitment to a world-class education.”

A central focus for the 2018 rankings was measuring the effectiveness of institutions in delivering affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time, particularly for working adults.

The magazine measured these factors through four categories: student engagement, student services and technology, faculty credentials and training, and peer reputation.

“The measures of the 2018 ranking are in tune with the university’s vision for our growing online presence, and they particularly match our strategic goals for UMSL NOW – UMSL Nights, Online and Weekends,” George said. “UMSL recognizes that one size does not fit all in terms of education, so we are proud to meet the needs of working professionals who are eager to advance their careers.”

Launched this spring, UMSL NOW offers more than 900 courses each semester in night, strictly online and weekend formats. Through these flexible course schedules, students have access to 14 undergraduate degrees and six certificate programs, as well as 40 graduates degrees and seven graduate certificate programs.

In the last year, UMSL’s online programs have also received national attention from publications across the country.

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice recently ranked eighth on College Choice’s list of the 50 Best Online Criminal Justice Degrees.

Value Colleges and Top RN to BSN also both named the College of Nursing’s online RN to BSN program among the best in the country. Value Colleges listed the program at No. 15, and Top RN to BSN ranked UMSL at No. 35. UMSL was one of only two Missouri institutions to make both lists.
