The University of Missouri–St. Louis is known for providing students with an excellent, flexible education at an affordable price, and online education is a powerful tool in helping students earn a degree.

A new ranking recognizes UMSL for the success of its online programs. This month, Value Colleges named UMSL No. 39 on its list “Top 50 Best Value Online Degree Completion Programs for 2021.”

“At UMSL, we’re proud to offer flexible pathways toward earning a degree, and online courses provide students with an option that works around the many other responsibilities that so many students juggle,” Chancellor Kristin Sobolik said. “We strive to provide all students, regardless of their backgrounds, a high quality and affordable education that works for them, and I’m delighted that this latest ranking recognizes our efforts.”

Value Colleges considered only accredited programs and ranked them by cost, reputation and salary potential. It noted UMSL’s flexibility in offering both online and in-person options, and that students may take advantage of the university’s connections, internships and other career tools.

“Students get all the benefits of a traditional education, but they get that education in a way that fits their own needs,” Value Colleges staff members wrote.

With this ranking, Value Colleges joins a host of peers that recognize UMSL’s affordability and flexibility.

In September, U.S. News & World Report jumped UMSL 14 spots to No. 126 on its “Best Colleges Rankings”with a new methodology that more heavily weighed the indebtedness of graduates. It also continued to rate UMSL highly on its lists of “A+ Schools for B Students,” “Top Performers on Social Mobility” and “Best Online Bachelors Programs.”
