The New York Times quoted Rachel Winograd, who holds a dual appointment as an associate professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences and director of the Missouri Institute of Mental Health, in a story about how a county jail in Maine helped prisoners curb opioid cravings. NPR also turned to Winograd for insight on the U.S. overdose rate plummeting. “It absolutely seems things are going in the right direction, and it’s something we should feel pleased about,” she said.
Several outlets including First Alert 4, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Spectrum News featured stories on Lucia G. Lohmann, a biology alum who was recently named president of the Missouri Botanical Garden. It’s the first time in the institution’s history that a woman has served in that role.
Forbes ranked UMSL No. 1 on its 2024 list of Best Online Colleges in Missouri. The Forbes ranking included 22 public, private and online-only colleges in Missouri, and the methodology included 17 different data points.
