Alla Voskoboynikova, coordinator of piano studies at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, will join forces with Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra concertmaster David Halen for a concert at 7 p.m. April 11 in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
The piano and strings duo will be joined by guest soprano Miran Halen. They will perform music by Sergei Prokofiev, Edvard Grieg, Sergei Rachmaninov and more.
Voskoboynikova was a pianist and vocal coach at the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater in Ukraine. She has collaborated locally with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and Union Avenue Opera Company.
David Halen began playing violin at age six and by 19 had become the youngest recipient ever of a Fulbright Scholarship. He has been with the SLSO since 1995. In 2002, he won the St. Louis Arts and Entertainment Award for Excellence. Halen also co-founded and serves as artistic director of the Innsbrook Institute, a summer music academy and festival in Missouri.
