Matthew Lemberger, assistant professor of counseling at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, has been appointed Associate Editor for the Journal of Humanistic Counseling, Education, and Development.

“I am honored to be appointed Associate Editor for the Journal of Humanistic Counseling, Education, and Development,” Lemberger said. “I truly enjoy the review process, collaborating with authors so that their ideas almost boom off the printed page, and contributing to the academic dialogue.”

Lemberger, a resident of St. Louis, added that the Journal of Humanistic Counseling, Education, and Development, which is published by the American Counseling Association, is a unique publication.

“This journal, unlike others, invites readers to consider the essence of humanism and how helping professionals help individuals meet their full potential,” he said.

Lemberger join the Division of Counseling & Family Therapy in the College of Education at UMSL in 2005. His areas of expertise are school counseling, student achievement, self-regulation, socio-cultural issues and clinical supervision.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.; a master’s degree in counseling from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. and his doctorate in counselor education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

“We are very proud of this acknowledgement of Matthew’s special talents and contributions to the counseling profession,” said Mark Pope, professor and chair of the Division of Counseling & Family Therapy at UMSL.
