Under the direction of 17th-year head coach Rick Gyllenborg, the University of Missouri–St. Louis Tritons have returned five players from last year’s men’s tennis team, which finished with a 10-8 overall record.

Among the returners is sophomore Nils Mueggenburg, who ended his freshman campaign ranked 15th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional rankings. He posted a 12-6 singles mark, including a 7-5 record at No. 1 and tallied a 15-8 doubles mark, playing mostly at No. 1.

Two other key sophomores return in Tim McLarty and Harry Heyburn. McLarty was 11-4 in singles action last year, playing mostly at Nos. 2 and 3, while Heyburn was 10-7 in singles, including 6-5 at No. 2.

UMSL also returns sophomore Nils Corrales and junior Tim Gorter. Corrales was 12-5 in singles play a year ago, including 5-0 at the No. 6 spot, while Gorter split time at Nos. 3-5 singles, posting a 12-11 record.

Newcomers include Corrales’ younger brother, Irving, and fellow freshman Milos Vukicevi.
