University of Missouri–St. Louis senior Kyle Renaud has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Renaud took to the rubber four times last week, including three appearances late in the game to successfully post saves for the UMSL Tritons. Despite dropping a 3-2 decision in 14 innings to Wayne (Neb.) State College, in which he allowed three hits and struck out five while allowing just one run in 6.1 innings of work, the Sugar Grove, Ill., native posted a pair of saves in wins over Wheeling (W. Va.) Jesuit University and a decisive save against No. 15 Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Mich.) to secure the 5-3 upset win for UMSL.

On the week, Renaud went 9.2 innings with nine strikeouts and a 0.93 ERA, allowing just four hits and one run.

This is the first weekly honor for Renaud, who is majoring in media studies, and the first for a Tritons pitcher since Austin Schuler earned last season’s final weekly award on May 7.

UMSL returns to action this Saturday and Sunday when the Tritons travel to Lewis University (Romeoville, Ill.) for a four-game series to open the GLVC schedule.
