Historian Charles Fanning will bring his “Irish American Lives: A Reading” to the University of Missouri–St. Louis at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in 331 Social Sciences & Business Building.

Fanning is the author of several books, including “Mapping Norwood: An Irish American Memoir,” “The Irish Voice in America: 250 Years of Irish-American Fiction” and “The Exiles of Erin: Nineteenth-Century Irish-American Fiction.”

Fanning also edited many books such as “Mr. Dooley and the Chicago Irish” and “Chicago Stories of James T. Farrell.”

He is a retired professor of English and history at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Along with UMSL, this lecture is co-sponsored by the Smurfit-Stone Endowed Professorship in Irish Studies at UMSL and the Center for International Studies at UMSL.

A parking permit and reservation are required for all visitors to UMSL.
