What makes you grab that pack of gum in the checkout line or buy those strategically placed boots that are on sale? And how can retailers better serve you by knowing your purchasing patterns?
Haim Mano, associate professor of marketing at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, will discuss “Behavioral Economics and Marketing: Rationality, Self Interest, Nudging and Instant Gratification” at 8 a.m. March 3 in the Student Government Chamber at the Millennium Student Center at UMSL as part of the monthly Breakfast & Business Series sponsored by the UMSL’s College of Business Administration and Express Scripts.
Mano’s research focuses on consumer behavior, the interface between personality and consumption, and customer satisfaction. The discussion will touch on the psychology of individual decision making and why understanding how consumers make decisions can help businesses provide better service in the marketplace.
Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required. Call 314-516-5883 to reserve a spot.
