Men’s Golf
UMSL finished in a tie for third place at the 2021 Midwest Regional, held last Monday and Tuesday at Fox Run Golf Course in Eureka, Missouri. The Tritons climbed four places in the 18-team field on the second day of competition, finishing with a combined score of 907 – 14 shots behind leader McKendree. Sophomore Nick Hedberg and senior Carson Postal finishing in a tie for 10th with 54-hole totals of 225. Post shot a final-round 71. All five Tritons finished among the top 40 individuals with Joel Sylven 19th, Cyril Henault 25th and Juan Antonio Padilla 40th. UMSL wraps up its fall schedule in the Tulsa Cup, played Oct. 25-26 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Women’s Golf
The Tritons finished in 13th place in the 18-team Lee Ann Noble Memorial Tournament played in Dahlonega, Georgia. They finished with a combined score of 903 in the 54-hole tournament. Freshman Tove Brunell led the team with a total of 220 to finish in a tie for 24th place individually. Jenna Teeter had a total of 225 to tie for 43rd. UMSL will play its final tournament of the fall schedule in the McKendree Dual Gender today and Tuesday at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois.

Volleyball
UMSL took two of three matches over the weekend in the 2021 Midwest Crossover, sweeping Findlay and Saginaw Valley State on Friday before falling to Ferris State for the second time this season on Saturday in Hammond, Ind. Outside hitter Charlotte Richards led UMSL with 42 kills combined in the three matches, and setter Kaileen Herman had 103 assists. The Tritons, after getting swept by Ferris State in a season-opening tournament in Michigan, took the first set 25-23 on Saturday before dropping the next three 25-21, 25-22, 25-12. UMSL (15-5) will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play this week when it play Friday at Drury and Saturday at Southwest Baptist.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons put in extra work last week, splitting double-overtime matches against Maryville and Missouri S&T both on the road. Nick Schreiber headed in the winner in Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 victory over the Miners with 4:47 remaining. Arman Kovac also scored as UMSL leveled its record at 6-6-1 (5-5-1 GLVC).  The Tritons were on the losing end of overtime two days before in a 2-1 defeat against Maryville despite a second-half goal from Garrett Bass that pulled them even in the final 15 minutes of regulation. UMSL next plays Sunday at home against Lindenwood.

Women’s Soccer
UMSL only surrendered one goal in two matches over the weekend but couldn’t put any shots in the net, settling for a scoreless road draw against Maryville on Friday before losing 1-0 to Missouri S&T on the road Sunday afternoon. Paige Schwartz and Brynne Qualley combined for the shutout on Friday with Schwartz making two saves. The Tritons take on Lindenwood at home on Sunday in their only match of the week.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming
The Tritons swim teams both posted strong results during a triangular meet with Maryville and William Jewell Friday and Saturday at the Mark Twain Athletic Center. Among the notable first-place UMSL finishers were Rebecca Bechtel in the women’s 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11 minutes, 3.36 seconds; Sergio Santisteban in the men’s 1,000 freestyle in 9:29.52; Ava Boehning in the women’s 50 freestyle with a time of 25.24 seconds; David Reynolds in the men’s 50 freestyle in 21.98 seconds; and Conley Savage in the men’s 100 butterfly with a time of 50.95 seconds. UMSL also took first in both the men’s and women’s 400 medley relays. UMSL will be back in the pool in a dual meet against Lewis on Friday in Romeoville, Illinois.
