MADCO: ‘Momentum’

Description: MADCO picks up speed in Momentum by performing the work of some of the nation’s hottest choreographers, including Gina Patterson (Austin, Texas), Mikey Thomas (Columbus, Ohio), Janice Garrett (San Francisco) and Joseph Mills (New York). They give audiences a taste of what’s happening in dance across the country. Discounted SNAP student, faculty and staff tickets are available, but quantities are limited.

Chic Corea and Béla Fleck presented by Jazz St. Louis

Description: NEA Jazz Master Chick Corea’s restless creativity knows no bounds. His groundbreaking band, Return To Forever, launched the fusion era of the 1970s. His “Piano Concerto No. 2” headlined Vienna’s Mozart Celebrations. Corea’s whole career is the stuff of jazz lore, an amalgamation of influential, limit-stretching, genre-bending musical experiences that have earned him 18 Grammy awards and legions of fans worldwide. Béla Fleck, considered the premiere banjo player in the world, lives to improvise and loves to work with unexpected musical fusions. Fleck has won 12 Grammys, and is the only musician to be nominated for Grammys in jazz, bluegrass, pop, country, gospel, composition and world music categories. Fleck and Corea also won a Latin Grammy for their duet album, “The Enchantment.” Discounted SNAP student, faculty and staff tickets are available, but quantities are limited.

Arianna String Quartet to Perform Special Good Friday Concert

Description: The Arianna String Quartet will present a special Good Friday performance of Joseph Haydn’s musical masterpiece, “The Seven Last Words of Christ.” Sacred readings will be interspersed among the musical movements. The performance is a thank you from the Arianna String Quartet to the congregation and staff at Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church for providing performance and class space to UMSL’s music department.
