Women’s Basketball
The women’s basketball team went 1-1 at home last weekend, defeating Wisconsin-Parkside, 67-61, on Thursday before falling to No. 8-ranked Lewis, 59-45, two days later. Senior Kelly Kunkel averaged 14 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and scored 18 in Thursday night’s win as the Tritons shot a season-high 50.9 percent. UMSL led Lewis midway through the third quarter Saturday, but saw the Flyers end the game on a 12-2 run. UMSL (7-8, 2-5 GLVC) is at Truman State Thursday night and at Quincy on Saturday.
Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball team fell victim to Wisconsin-Parkside, 77-60, on Thursday night and lost a 71-68 decision to Lewis on Saturday as the Flyers hit a three-quarters-court shot at the buzzer to earn the win. Senior Brandon Marquardt averaged 15.5 points on the weekend, while redshirt freshman Joshua Webster averaged 13.5 points per game, tying a season-best 19 points against UW-Parkside. The Tritons (6-10, 0-7 GLVC), who have lost four league games by four or fewer points, are at Truman State on Thursday night and at Quincy on Saturday.
