Visitors take in a free viewing of the moon, stars and galaxies in the Richard D. Schwartz Observatory at UMSL. The next viewing is Sept. 3.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis Department of Physics and Astronomy will hold a public viewing of Ring Nebula, Alberio, Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Cluster at 8 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Richard D. Schwartz Observatory. The viewing is free and open to the public.

The observatory is used for astronomical research and public education at UMSL. It is located on the UMSL Fine Arts Campus just off Florissant Rd. and Rosedale Dr.

An expert will be on hand to answer questions. Each person gets a chance to look through the huge telescope lens. Bring the whole family.

All open houses include a viewing of the first quarter moon, along with additional nebulae and galaxies.
