UMSL quartet gets recording pact

The Arianna String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, has signed an exclusive, long-term recording contract with Centaur Records, North America's oldest independent classical music label.

The Arianna String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, has signed an exclusive, long-term recording contract with Centaur Records, North America’s oldest independent classical music label.

A significant portion of the contract is devoted to recording the complete quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven, Bela Bartok and Leos Janacek and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s six quartets dedicated to Joseph Haydn. Quartet members anticipate that recording sessions will take place in the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at UMSL.

“We are tremendously excited by this opportunity,” said David Gillham, violinist in quartet. “Worldwide distribution, coupled with a dominant online digital presence, will help the Arianna Quartet and the University of Missouri–St. Louis broaden their global reach, and secure their world class reputations as leaders in arts and education.”
