Heartland Apicultural Society Midwest Beekeeping Conference

Description: The 2012 Heartland Apicultural Society Conference will be held July 12–14 on UMSL’s campus. The three-day conference will be swarming with beekeepers old and new, instructional programs in the classrooms, “hands-on” classes in the apiary, vendor displays. Sessions are designed for beekeepers at all skill levels and include a special beginners track for those with no beekeeping experience, as well as advanced topics for beekeepers with many years’ experience and those in between. St. Louis, like other urban areas across the country, has experienced an explosion of interest in beekeeping in the past five years. The St. Louis beekeeping community is “abuzz” with excitement to be hosting this important regional event. Daily registration is $25 and can be paid at the J.C. Penney Conference Center.

Introduction to Voiceover
Date/Time: July 17, 2012 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Description: The two-hour workshop will explore many different types of voiceovers and what it takes to get started as a voice actor. Students will have their voice recorded as they read from real scripts and will receive a professional voice evaluation. Many who have taken the class have gone on to become professional voice actors. Fee: $59.

Using Cognos Student Reports

Description: This session is intended for individuals interested in using the student reports available via Cognos. These reports contain data at the student or course level and are operationally oriented, rather than high-level summaries. The goal of this session is to familiarize UMSL faculty and staff with the Cognos environment and available student-oriented reports. Topics in this hands-on session include: set-up activities; signing on; setting the default folder; effectively navigating in the application; an overview of the reports; how to run reports; and where to find documentation.
