University of Missouri–St. Louis head softball coach Brian Levin has been named to the Coaching Staff of the Year for the National Pro Fastpitch 2014 season. Levin is completing his first season as field manager of the Akron Racers.

Levin, along with his assistant coach Dustin Combs (head coach at William Jewell), were a unanimous selection as Coaching Staff of the Year as the Racers finished with a regular season record of 24-24, the most wins since the 2010 season.

Levin will enter his fifth season at UMSL’s head softball coach during the 2014-15 season. In four seasons, he owns a coaching mark of 148-66 (.691) and is the program’s all-time wins leader. Levin directed last year’s team to a program-best 49-8 record and a spot in the NCAA Midwest Super Regional. The UMSL Tritons also won their second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship and were ranked in the NFCA DII Top 25 Poll each week, attaining a high ranking of No. 4.

Levin was named field manager for the Akron Racers last November. They are the oldest existing team in the National Pro Fastpitch league, which is completing its 13th year. The Racers competed in the Women’s Pro Softball League for two seasons (1999 and 2000) and have been in the NPF since 2004. The NPF season runs from late May through August.
