Junior defender Evan Garrad of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team has been named to the 2015 Division II Academic All-District Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and on the field.
Garrad, a repeat selection to the Academic All-District team and a student in the Pierre Laclede Honors College, sports a 3.97 grade point average in biology and has started 16 of the 17 games played in. Defensively, he helped the Tritons to five shutouts, while also recording two assists.
UMSL finished the season with a 7-7-3 overall record, including a 6-6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference mark.
To be eligible for nomination to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or an important reserve.
Garrard is now eligible to be selected to the Academic All-America Team.
