Women’s Basketball
UMSL went 2-0 in its last two regular season road games last weekend, defeating Illinois Springfield 77-73 and McKendree 63-58 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Sophomore Laura Szorenyi averaged 23 points, which included a 31-point effort in the win at UIS. She scored seven of the Tritons’ final 11 points in that win, including six straight in a span of 60 seconds to give them a lead they would not relinquish with a minute to play. Szorenyi then scored eight of her 15 points in the fourth quarter at McKendree to fend off the hosts, who trimmed a 14-point deficit to two. UMSL (11-10, 6-7 GLVC) begins a five-game homestand on Thursday, playing host to Southern Indiana, before welcoming Bellarmine on Saturday.

Men’s Basketball
Junior guard Elijah Watson lifted the Tritons to victory with a traditional three-point play for the last of his 33 points Thursday in a 66-65 victory at Illinois Springfield. UMSL came up short on Saturday in a 79-69 loss at McKendree despite rallying from a 15-point deficit and drawing as close as four points in the final minute. Junior Steven Davis scored a team-best 19 points, making five 3-pointers, and moved into sixth place on the single-season charts with 69 this season. The Tritons (10-13, 4-9 GLVC) will play host to Southern Indiana Thursday and Bellarmine on Saturday as they begin a five-game homestand to wrap up the regular season.

Softball
The Tritons opened the season with a 3-3 record last weekend at the Gulf Coast Invitational. Sophomore Reagan Osborn led the offense with seven hits, six RBIs and four runs scored, while senior Alex Stupek also scored four runs to become the program’s all-time career leader in that category. Sophomore Carly Kingery went 2-1 in the circle, striking out 17.
