Women’s Tennis
UMSL saw its season come to an end in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship tournament on Saturday with a 4-0 loss to top-ranked Indianapolis. The Tritons defeated Illinois Springfield, 4-0, in their quarterfinal match. Graduate student Marina Prediger, a three-time All-GLVC pick, ends her career with 92 singles victories, a program record.
Men’s Tennis
The Tritons ended their season on Saturday with a 4-0 loss to 22nd-ranked Southwest Baptist in the semifinals of the GLVC Championship tournament. UMSL defeated Lewis, 4-0, in the quarterfinals. Prior to the tournament, graduate student Ben-Hur Kasprzak and freshman Marcos Navas were named to the All-GLVC Team. Kasprzak becomes the program’s first four-time selection and graduates with a program-best 71 career singles wins.
Softball
UMSL went 2-2 in its final weekend of the season, sweeping Southern Indiana on Friday before suffering a pair of shutouts at McKendree on Saturday. Sophomore Annie Scaramuzzi went 4-for-8 at the plate in the two wins and also picked up the win in the circle in game two. The Tritons lost a tiebreaker with Illinois Springfield for the No. 8 seed in this week’s eight-team GLVC Tournament and saw their season end with a 19-23 record.
Baseball
The Tritons won their first series of the year, taking three of four games from visiting McKendree. Sophomore Nick Torres tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout in the opener, striking out a career-high six, while freshman Leighton Keller led the offense by batting .643, recording nine hits, including three doubles and a home run. UMSL will wrap up its regular season with a four-game series at Lindenwood beginning on Friday.
