Junior Brianna Butler of the University of Missouri–St. Louis softball team has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by Daktronics, Inc.
Butler, an education major with an elementary education emphasis, started all 57 games and batted .329 with 55 hits, including 13 doubles and 14 home runs, and tallied a team-high 45 RBIs. Her 14 home runs are a program single season record and ranked 32nd in NCAA DII, while she has 32 career long balls, also a program-best. Butler also led the squad with a .659 slugging percentage and a .446 on-base percentage.
She was a Second Team All-GLVC selection this season after being a first team honoree as a freshman and a sophomore. Butler also earned First Team All-Midwest Region honors by Daktronics, Inc., and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) this season.
She becomes the fifth player in program history to earn All-America honors, and the second this season, joining teammate and two-time honoree Hannah Perryman. Perryman was tabbed as Second Team All-American by the NFCA earlier this week.
UMSL posted a program-best 49-8 record this season, advancing to the NCAA Midwest Super Regional.
The Daktronics, Inc., All-America teams award outstanding performance by student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is the eighth season in which Daktronics, Inc., has sponsored the All-America teams for softball.
