Featured stories:

St. Louis Public Radio spoke with Christopher J. Sullivan, E. Desmond Lee Professor of Youth Crime and Violence, about Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s call for juvenile justice system changes. Sullivan noted that adding to the list of criminal charges that automatically trigger a hearing to determine if a juvenile should be tried as an adult is reasonable but unlikely to deter crime.

David Kimball, professor of political science, and Anita Manion, assistant professor of political science, contributed an opinion piece to Forbes. In it, Kimball and Manion tout campus collaborations with local election officials. They noted the benefits of UMSL’s relationship with the St. Louis County Board of Elections. The board has a unique bipartisan structure, and both county election directors, Eric Fey (a Democrat) and Rick Stream (a Republican), are alumni.
