Local media outlets, including the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Fox 2 Now, detailed Girls Inc. of St. Louis’ inaugural Business and Entrepreneurship Program. This new program, which includes 14 rising eighth-grade girls, is designed to empower young women by offering guidance in different aspects of business. It is a partnership between Girls Inc. and First Bank and was hosted on UMSL’s campus.

St. Louis Public Radio and KBIA spotlighted Mid-America Transplant, an organ and tissue procurement organization that serves eastern Missouri, southern Illinois and northeast Arkansas, that is working on a project with UMSL to use drones to transport blood samples. Shakiba Enayati, an assistant professor of supply chain and analytics, said the collaboration’s overall goal is to “eventually give rural patients that similar timely access to health care delivery as those that are living in cities and essentially making medical resources more fairly distributed.”

KSDK saluted retiring Director of Athletics Lori Flanagan. Sports Director Frank Cusumano, a 1984 UMSL alum, interviewed Flanagan for a feature story during an evening newscast.
