The Boston Globe tapped Trilce Encarnación, an assistant professor of supply chain and analytics, to speak about how Boston’s new food delivery permits could affect gig drivers. Encarnación, who studies third-party delivery driver logistics, said that over time, new insurance policy requirements that cover drivers while they execute orders on behalf of third-party delivery companies could lead drivers to operate more safely.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch covered news of the Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center at UMSL honoring Lúcia Lohmann, an alum and president of the Missouri Botanical Garden, with the Robert R. Hermann World Ecology Award. The internationally renowned botanist became the 27th recipient of the award, joining luminaries such as John DenverJacques CousteauHarrison Ford and E.O. Wilson. Lohmann earned her PhD in ecology, evolution and systematics at UMSL.

The St. Louis American featured Richard Jackson, a criminology and criminal justice student who signed up for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Citizens Academy, a six-week program designed to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at how cases move through the courts. Jackson wanted a clearer view of how justice works in St. Louis — not from a textbook, but from inside the system itself.
